liteformats separates document metadata from reusable appearance
settings. Metadata belongs at the top level of a source document’s YAML
header. Settings belong in a flat liteformats mapping:
---
title: "Jane Doe - Resume"
author: "Jane Doe"
job-title: "Research Scientist"
liteformats:
paper: a4
margins: ["0.65in", "0.8in"]
link-color: "#385898"
paged: true
---Setting names in YAML use kebab case. Unknown names are rejected so that a misspelling cannot silently fall back to a default. The metadata fields available at the top level depend on the selected format; each format guide lists its fields.
Configure a render in R
Every renderer has a matching options helper. Non-NULL
values supplied to the helper override values from YAML:
liteformats::resume(
"resume.Rmd",
"resume.pdf",
options = liteformats::resume_options(
paper = "a4",
margins = c("0.7in", "0.8in"),
link_color = "#1f5a94"
)
)Use cover_letter_options() with
cover_letter() in the same way. Keeping the helper and
renderer matched provides argument checking and makes the
format-specific metadata clear.
Page and PDF controls
paper accepts "letter", "a4",
"legal", or a width and height given as CSS lengths.
margins accepts one to four CSS lengths in standard CSS
shorthand order; numeric values are interpreted as inches.
paged controls whether an HTML preview opens in a paginated
layout. PDF printing always uses the packaged pagination assets.
Two PDF controls are available only through the options helper:
-
keep_html = TRUEretains the intermediate self-contained HTML beside the PDF. -
browsersupplies the path to a Chromium-based browser when automatic discovery is not suitable.
See vignette("typography") for the shared type and
spacing settings, including local and online fonts.
